November 4, 2009: Road ride on our MTBs

Jun and I decided to ride Wednesday after work. Started at 4:45 ended by 6:45pm. Really dark and got quite cold. Route - Started at Stevens Canyon, up Left on Redwood Gulch, Right on Highway 9 then all the way to the Saratoga Gap Parking Lot (Junction Highway 9 & Highway 35). Then back down the way we went up.

October 31, 2009: Redwood Gulch, Hwy 9, Page Mill, Foothill Expressway

Riders: Jun and Gene...Foggy and cold at the 9am start. Brrrrr! However, it warmed up and turned into a good day for a ride. This was a rare road ride as we normally mountain bike on Saturdays. The ride started on Foothill Blvd near Stevens Creek Blvd. Continue onto Stevens Canyon Road, left onto Redwood Gulch (aka 1.5 miles of climbing HE_ _!), right onto Hwy 9, right onto Hwy 35, right onto Page Mill Road (the downhill blast!), right onto Moody Road (the houses there are amazing), down El Monte, right onto Foothill Expressway to the starting point. 31 miles of riding, 2.5 hrs on the bike with a net climb of 2575 feet (Start at 184 feet with highest point at 2759 feet).

October 24, 2009: Coal Creek + Russian Ridge

Riders: Benny Chito and Tim.... blue skies and cool weather made a perfect Fall day for riding! Had a couple of chain issues - Chito broke his chain while Benny's chain was sticking - needs some cleaning. But other than that, it was a very good ride. Started at Alpine corner Willowbrook. Rode all the way up then hit Meadow Trail. Went onto Clouds Rest and hoppped onto Russian Ridge. Did Hawk trail.

October 10, 2009: Coal Creek

Starting at Alpine Road corner Willowbrook, Chito and Benny rode up Alpine Road then up Meadow trail. Cool, overcast weather was ideal. Came back down. Was a short but enjoyable ride.

October 3, 2009: Pleasanton Ridge

Hit the trail by 9:15am with a cool breeze through out the morning ride. Starting elevation at 396ft, we climbed up for 5 miles to 1,525ft then enjoyed the views and the single tracks on the ridge. Blue Oaks Knoll trail has a scary off-camber section.

September 5, 2009: MTB Waterdog

This was the day Waterdog conquered us!

Neil, Tim and Benny had a tough day... slow, low energy climbs, did not even do the switchbacks, then had a few nasty falls.... we decided to bail out midway.

September 12, 2009: Stevens Creek & Long Ridge

Ride time: 3 hours & 13 mins

Comments:
Very tough ride both physically and mentally. Table Mountain Trail was a very technical climb while Charcoal Road was one of the steepest climbs. Single track and downhills were a blast!

August 22, 2009: MTB Skeggs again!

Riders: Tim, Jun, Chito, Benny: Morning started a bit hot but did not pose a problem since most of the trails were under the trees. Tim, thanks again for showing is the trails - I think I can now remember most of them, but I still can't figure them out on the maps :-)

Was a very nice good ride. A last one for Ranier as he moves down to San Diego this week. He wants to be kept in the evite list in case he finds himself in the bay area during a weekend ride.

Chito, Ranier and I did Stevens Canyon, down Skid Rd onto Skyline Ridge Christmas Tree Farm then Grizzly South.
