10March2012: 4 Parks Skyline, Long Ridge, Upper Stevens Creek, Saratoga Gap

Riders: Benny, Tim, Ralph, Raffy, Radi, Ernie
16.5 miles

From Russian Ridge parking lot, headed straight into Skyline Ridge Park through Horseshoe Lake & Christmas Tree Farm / Ridge Trail. Continued further south on Peters Creek Trail and Hickory Oak Trail, crossed Hiway 35 onto Saratoga Gap trail. (9.6 miles).

Ernie broke a chain right at the end of Saratoga Gap trail.

On the way back, enjoyed Saratoga Gap trail but then headed back on the road along Hiway 35 until Russian Ridge Parking Lot.

Gene could not join us - he celebrated his big 5-0 jumping off a plane skydiving from 10,000ft at Pismo Beach. Happy Birthday Gene!

03March2012: 4 Parks, lots of Climbing, lots of downhill :-)

Riders: Jun, Gene, Chito, Tim, Radi and Benny
Blue skies, green mountain trails, no rain, mid 60s degree F, lots of tough climbing but rewarded with sweet downhills on single tracks and switchbacks!

• Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve (peak at 2400 ft elev, Horseshoe Lake, Christmas Tree Farm)
• Long Ridge Open Space (Ridge Trail)
• Upper Stevens Creek County Park (fast downhill on Grizzly Flat Trail 2200ft elev down to 1400ft)
  
• Montebello Open Space Preserve (Climb up Canyon Trail 1400 ft up to 1900 ft elev, tougher climb on Indian Creek Trail 1900 ft to 2700 ft elev in 1 mile, Sweet single track downhill on Old Ranch + Bella Vista Trails 2700 ft elev down to 2000 ft, finished the ride on Canyon trail & White Oak Trail)

25Feb2012: 3 Parks: Russian Ridge, Coal Creek, Montebello

It was a very nice day for riding! Blue skies, green mountain views, cool 50 deg F but a bit windy up on the ridge. And we got to do 3 parks - Russian Ridge (ancient oaks, hawk, ridge trail, rapley ranch road trails), Coal Creek (cloud rest, meadow trail) and Montebello (white oak trail, skid road) Open Space Preserves! See you guys again next weekend.

18Feb2012: Fremont Older

Third consecutive weekend ride with no rain at all! Cool (60 deg F) slightly overcast day with Gene, Chito Jun and Benny. Toyon was closed due to previous day's rain so we ended up doing a couple loops of Seven Springs.




At Masie's Point, we found some interesting rock-on-top-of-rock "artwork".... but wait, scroll down below and guess what else we found!

arastradero a 2nd consecutive saturday. Overcast in the mid 50s F and not a drop of rain. Nice ride with Chito, Gene, Radi and Benny

7Feb2012: sneaked in a couple of solo rides at Fremont Older

Could not resist.. sneaked in a couple of late afternoon solo MTB rides yesterday and today at Fremont Older Open Space Preserve... yesterday I climbed up from the north along Coyote Ridge trail...a bit chilly though dry... Today, I climbed up from the south side starting at Prospect Rd .. Toyon trail was a bit damp but not too muddy... :-)
